Thematic Sections of the Two-Day Conference

Shaping the future of education

The Education is changing

The field of education is gradually emerging as one of those most affected by the rapid technological developments, which have brought and continue to bring enormous changes, if not upheavals, in many areas.

The way of teaching, the 'visual aids', the available 'materials', the new and unprecedented possibilities, are all changing for the now interconnected classroom, in order to keep pace with our times and to take advantage of the countless opportunities and challenges.

In this section, the best 'examples of writing' of the era of the new normality, in which education has now passed, will be presented.

Online Education

As the digital transformation of everything extends to the educational landscape, distance learning is evolving into a fundamental and essential tool, an answer to the major challenges for continuous, lifelong education - training - upskilling, in order to meet both the learning needs of children, who must properly prepare their future, and those of the labor market, at a later time.

Representatives of the educational community, the bodies that ensure the smooth operation of online teaching, and the market, which in fact has a say in shaping the appropriate interactive and secure environment, will take part in this section, also highlighting the opportunities that are opening up.

There is a need for skills!

Of the three levels of education, the first two are almost exclusively dedicated to the acquisition of general knowledge, while the third is dedicated to the in-depth study of a subject and the preparation of students for working life.

However, in our time, skills, especially digital ones, as well as soft skills, which are so necessary in the daily lives of many professions, play an equally important role as specialized knowledge.

This section will examine, with the help of representatives from the largest IT & Communications companies, ways to participate in digital skills acquisition programs in Greece and the benefits that can be gained from them.

Full STE(A)M ahead

The philosophy of STEM (STE-A-M, if we also include the arts and humanities) needs no special introduction. Widely accepted by the school community and the general public as a key pillar of the educational process, in which many invest, considering it as a solution to the growing shortage of human resources and talents.

Educators and pioneers in this specific field will share, within this section, the ideas, experiences, and expertise they have gained from utilizing such solutions, integrated both into the official school curriculum and outside of it, within the framework of parallel school activities.

Colleges and private Universities

The discussion surrounding higher education in Greece is at a critical juncture. What are the prerequisites and prospects? How will the quality of education provided be ensured, and what are the best practices internationally?

With the establishment of private universities now a reality, the academic community and society are called upon to redefine the role and position of colleges and private universities within the educational ecosystem.

Secondary Education Tutoring Centers

The presence of tutoring centers for secondary education is strong, and the discussion surrounding their necessity is ongoing.

Do they offer real help to students? With the introduction of new technologies and teaching methods, will tutoring centers continue to exist in the future, and how will they evolve?

Training & Lifelong Learning

In a rapidly changing world, upskilling and lifelong learning are essential prerequisites for personal and professional development.

The continuous acquisition of new knowledge and skills is critical to addressing modern challenges.

What forms of upskilling are available? From traditional seminars to online courses and e-learning platforms, the options are plentiful.

Foreign Language Learning Centers

Learning foreign languages has become an essential skill in the modern era, for both professional and personal reasons.

Foreign language tutoring centers have emerged as an important factor in the educational process, offering lessons and programs for all ages and levels.

The artificial intelligence in education

Artificial Intelligence has also taken a seat at the 'desk' in the last year or two, and by all accounts, it will solidify its position in the immediate future.

The widespread availability of ChatGPT and many similar offerings with enormous capabilities, the presentation of the first LLMs in the Greek language, but also the coordinated training of the educators themselves with the appropriate expertise that they will have to pass on to their students, opens the way for the future.

Which future also includes the creation of a 'smart' digital assistant, which will be a daily companion in the study and work of the student.
